From: Smoky Hawk Mine, Florissant, Teller Co., Colorado, USA
Size: 4.8 x 5.0 x 3.5cm
Here is a top quality combo specimen from the famous Smoky Hawk mine in Colorado. This has a nice, dark Smoky Quartz crystal on the left with two Amazonite crystals on the right. In front is white cleavlandite, and the black line you see in the middle of it is not the quartz showing through. That's actually a small, thin crystal of some other mineral - possibly rutile. The color of the Amazonite is top quality teal with excellent saturation. The photos have not been manipulated - this is the accurate color of the Amazonite. One additional element that makes this specimen special is the thin, little quartz crystal laying between the smoky quartz and the Amazonite. This is a thin, double-terminated quartz crystal.
As with almost all Amazonite specimens this one has been expertly repaired by the Dorris family who owns the mine. This specimen has 2 repairs, but it is extremely difficult to tell where both are.
The specimen comes with a labeled acrylic display base.
