Calcite, Barite, Sphalerite & Fluorite from Elmwood Mine

We call this one the "Ice Cream Cone" and it's probably the best Elmwood specimen that we have ever had! For starters, it has everything: purple fluorite, sphalerite, barite and calcite. Most of all, however, are the aesthetics of it. We can tell that the sphalerite and fluorite is the first generation of mineral and at some point in its life it detatched from the matrix leaving a flat, exposed back side. Later, calcite grew on it including the gigantic double-terminated calcite crystal on the back of the sphalerite plate. This large calcite crystal measures 13.1cm and is completely double-terminated. The condition, aesthetics, and overall variety of this specimen make it a particularly valuable and desireable specimen from the Elmwood Mine.
