This is a very special Italian sulphur specimen! It is an absolutely enormous single crystal, but what's best is that it is a gem quality crystal. The interior is like yellow glass with very few internal fractures. Typically, a sulphur crystal would be considered large if it's an inch or so in size, but this beast is 4" wide, and it is very difficult to find large sulphur crystals that aren't completely fractured or included with carbon deposits. The surface condition is quite good too with just the contact points on the bottom and back. The faces, especially the front face, show stepped crystal growth patterns, so you can see the layers of crystal as they were growing.
What the photos can't really show you is just how much this thing glows. When you place it in a display cabinet with a light shining on it, the light enters the transparent sulphur crystal, bounces around inside, and illuminaites it like a light bulb! It's stunning!!!
The specimen comes with a labeled acrylic display base.
