From: Goboboseb Mountains, Brandberg Area, Erongo, Namibia
Size: 8.0 x 9.1 x 9.1cm
This is a top-quality, dark, Grape Jelly Amethyst specimen from Namibia. This is the rarest and most valueable color of amethyst due to it's incredibly dark purple color, and it is often referred to as "gem amethyst" because this is the material that is used for the finest amethyst cut gemstones.
The surface of the matrix appears to be Siderite which is covered with orange, hematite stained calcite. It's actually a mix of white/grey calcite and these siderite blades covered with a thin layer of hematite and calcite. There are also some smaller amethyst crystals growing up from the matrix. The amethyst crystal itself is a stunning color and has a perfect termination. The backside has a thin coating of orange hematite. From the front there is no damage to the crystal, but on the back there is one chip.
The specimen comes with a custom acrylic display base.
