Iridescent Calcite from Kosovo

When you think of minerals from the Trepca Mine in Kosovo you don't usually think of color, but this one is a rarity. This calcite specimen is covered with a full spectrum of iridescence. We are not sure what mineral is making up the iridescence that's on the calcite, but in the closeups you can see some later calcite crystals dotting the surface of it, so this is a multi-generational, layered specimen. The color is quite stunning when you shine light on it, and what you cannot see in these still photos is how it glitters. The iridescence is very sparkley. 

The specimen comes with a custom display base.
