Quartz w/ Elbaite Cast from Burma

What a great fine this specimen is! Here is a double-terminated milky quartz specimen with a very aesthetic Elbaite cast on it. What makes this extra-interesting is that the quartz actually has a side-car crystal growing in parallal to it, and it appears that once in its life it had another quartz crystal where the tourmaline now is. The tourmaline grew on the front of this long-lost quartz crystal, and when the quartz crystal fell away it left a cast. The tourmaline continued to grow on the backside of the cast, so what we now have is an Elbaite cast with larger, older crystals on the front and finer, newer crystals on the back. The condition is extremely good, especially considering what this specimen has gone through over its life. The quartz is well terminated, and the Elbaite is a dark-pink color. The red spots you see are the dark-reddish-purple caps on may of the tourmaline crystals. 

The specimen comes with a labeled acrylic display base.
