Some of the most sought after rhodochrosites in the world are those from the Sweet Home mine in Colorado. This one is an excellent size with very good rhodochrosite crystal coverage and sizes up to 1.5cm long. Mixed in with the red rhodochrosite are small fluorite cubes. The fluorite is purple with a white coating in the exterior. One of the fluorite crystals is chipped which reveals the purple inside. There is also quartz, chalcopyrite, and possibly some tetrahedrite.
The condition is quite good with no significant damage - just the one chipped fluorite crystal. The rhodochrosite is a good color - not the pale salmon that you see in lesser specimens, but not the dark cherry red that you see in the 6-figure specimens. Just a good shade of red with some pinker areas. We tried to match the photos to how it appears in our display case. The video shows what it looks like in outdoor, bluer, lighting. Overall, an excellent specimen, especially for its size!
To ensure that the color you see is accurate this photo was perfectly calibrated with an X-Rite ColorChecker calibration card. Your monitor may alter the colors somewhat, but rest assured the colors in the jpeg file are exact, and this is how the specimen really appears.
The specimen comes with a custom acrylic display base.
